Artistic Development

The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts

Mallon attended The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, which is s located at Broad and Cherry streets in central downtown Philadelphia. The Academy is the oldest institute of fine arts education in the United States and offers a variety of curriculum. Its distinguished faculty has always represented the avant-garde while supporting the traditional values and approaches to art and design, painting and sculpture.

Training

Studied under distinguished artists/instructors including:
- Walter Stuempfig, Hobson Pittman, Francis Speight, Jimmy Lueders, Ben Kamahira, Elizabeth Osborne, Morris Blackburn
Student development included:
- Extensive figure/life, still life, and landscape painting
- Clay figure sculpting
- Advanced drawing and composition studies
- Zinc and copper plate etching courses
- Materials and technique training
- Ongoing attendance at student critique gatherings
- Development of work ethic to see all work to completion
